okay, last week samuel came running into the kitchen and said i had to come see this preview on the internet. i am a preview nut!! when he clicked play i was on the edge of my seat (what would it be, what would it be??)...and then it started and i just SCREAMED!! they are making a movie of one of my favorite books. if you haven't read "the city of ember" or the sequel "the people of sparks" by jeanne duprau...you should!!

i just finished re-reading "the city of ember"...it's been years since i read it and i am glad to say i enjoyed it just as much. now i'm ready for the movie. of course, the times when i re-read a harry potter book just before the movie came out i was more disappointed with the movie than when i didn't refresh my memory of all the details. still, i'm glad i read it again.

wow Guthrie my brother read that book in two days he finished it last night, i just told him their will be a movie of it and he is going nuts he can't wait to see the movie and i can't wait to read the book.

your mom told me he got it and i was hoping he would like it. yeah for cool books!! i'm reading the second book (on and off) "the people of sparks" and i think it is different and better in lots of ways. so you'll have to read it too. there are 2 more books in the series that i've got holds on at the library as well. i didn't even know about them until recently. so i'm excited about that!

okay...we went to see this on wednesday and LOOOOOOOOVED it. oh there were some odd things that i DO NOT remember being in the book. but other than that, i adored the lighting and setting and wardrobe. it was all so much like how i pictured it in my head, except for the scale of the city. for some reason i imagined it bigger and the lights not so low. but then when i saw it, it clicked into place. all the fuzzy areas that my mind couldn't make clear because they weren't quite right. all clear now. that's the nice thing about movies. but sometimes they go and screw up your perfectly good and clear image. this one didn't. it was really good! can't wait for the sequels!!!

I just saw Tim Robbins on The Daily Show, touting this as "taking your kid to a film and actually *enjoying* it with them"
I found the audio book to download from my library... tomorrow it shall be on my phone :)
