I think it's a little bit confusing to have to click "view all" to see the main discussion categories. Is there a way to make it more obvious that the recent discussions are what you see when you log on, rather than all the possible main topics and threads therein?

Other than that, I think it's AWESOME! I love the groups being there and the chat. Can anyone add forum categories or just threads? I guess I haven't played around with any of it yet. I can think of plenty of categories if you want.;)

the "forums" box that you see first on the main page are the most recently commented on discussions. you don't have to hit "view all" to go to the forums main page. there are links at the top of the main page that take you to all areas of the site ("my page" "members" "events" "forums" "groups" "photos", etc.).

i could have the forums box look differently (listing categories instead of recent posts) and see how that works for everyone. the reason i chose to do the most recent is because it makes it easy to see which threads are active and what has been commented on.

i'll change it and see what kind of feedback i get from it being that way instead.

i don't think anything i just said made a lick of sense...i think i just talked in at least 3 circles around myself. but i do that sometimes!!

okay, i just changed it...and personally, i don't like it. what does everyone else think?

it requires you to have to go look into all the forums to see what is most recent.

That was what I was going to point out. That is annoying to me and the reason why I changed my forums from it over on my site.

Yeah, I liked that the most recent were first up. I'm a bit on the slow side with figuring out new sites like this and just now realized there is a "forum" link at the top. Hopefully other members aren't as slow as this gal.:)

You know what though? I just went and looked at the new way and I like it better. I may be in the minority though. I like seeing all the main categories right up front for some reason. Seems more organized. Any solution to having both?

I'd like some way to bring up discussions that have new comments since my last visit. Is there a way to do that?

At the bottom right of each forum page is something to click so that you're notified by e-mail if there's a new post in that topic. That's what I've been using.

it does look cleaner with categories...but i'm thinking the main page is just to give you a sample of what's offered on the other pages. having most recent posts is just more convenient for most people who are wanting to keep up with the latest stuff and not sift through.

the categories could go on forever eventually and take up a lot of space on the front page. so i think keeping it to recent posts makes more sense. just like only showing the most recently joined members instead of showing ALL of them...it would just take up too much space. the groups will eventually have to be just a sampling as well as it seems to be growing too.

In the "groups" section on the main page (I like it's new location btw) is there a way to add another line under each group with the first couple words in the title of whatever new discussion is happening within that group?

I guess I'm wondering about an at-a-glance way to see what's happening within the different groups ... (or whether something new is going on in one of mine).

I'm really enjoying this site by the way. And I like the new organization of the main page.

This morning it's not working, though. :-/

Before, if I got an e-mail notification, it took me straight to that post in the discussion, and now it takes me to the main page. Some of them have already fallen off the "newest" list.

Laura, is that a setting you can change, on the e-mail notifications? I loved going straight to the new post.
