OK so I need to explain.. I am new to all this and don't really have the forum to get a lot of advice in this area. I love that my high-functioning Autistic 8 yr old daughter is facinated about pregnancy and wants to learn all about it! She loves science and WE LOVE GOODWILL so she found a Medical Book about all kinds of problems from Rashes, Illness and of course the production of life. She is so into it she found a section on child birth and it was a very detailed drawing. As she was sitting out side enjoying her book our 7 yr old neighbor came by and showed her all of these pictures. I told her mom and she was ok with it (but her face said other wise). I am all for explaning it to her and letting her learn all about it, but I am trying my hardest to explain to her that not everyone wants to know about that and that she can't take the book to the park and stuff. Then she says "Mom I just want to learn!"
I LOVE IT.. but finding a hard time where to draw the line!
ANY HELP IS WANTED!!

It seems similar in some regards to giving other kids food - I made sure my kids both knew not to just hand food to other children, to check in with me or the other parent first. Sometimes there are allergies, but often there are other issues, issues of parental control and kids "having to ask". That might be something to talk about with your dd - that other families have different rules and its the parents who decide what kids can learn about.
That makes sense. I think it just is one of the those thing where we need to sit down and explain how it's just diffrent for other people. Her being autistic comes with issues such as her not really realizing when to stop and think about what she is annamerd with but I know I'm going to have to treat it like any other obesession she's had.. except this time it's not sharks or dinosaurs, i know this time not everybody wants to hear about it.

THANKS! This weekend we kept busy so we will see how this week goes. I will keep you informed of the progress!

I remember Phoenix used to spend hours on Howstuffworks.com watching the animations and videos about reproduction, and then one day, he was just over it.
