Radical Unschoolers Network

the network for radical unschooling families

My book, The Natural Child, is being translated into Italian. The publisher would like to include a list of unschooling support groups in Italy. I'd appreciate any references.

Thanks!

hi Jan,
i did respond to this on your comment board!
but for the discussion I do the references here:

www.nontogliermiilsorriso.org
is the site we are working on dedicated to respectful parenting with Alice Miller as a focus (in italy there is basically no one who claims spanking and other forms of mistreatment are damaging to children). Since I am there, I can be reached for support in unschooling.

we have no forum as yet specific there but it could go under the general discussion for now.
I plan to do some translations on how children learn best...anything that you think is of value I will appreciate!

http://www.alberosacro.org/
http://genitoriefigli.wordpress.com/2007/10/15/la-scuola-familiare-...
is run by claudia and has a little ebook on homeschooling in italy...worth the modest price she asks.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/learning-unlimited/?yguid=286713246
is the european list for homeschoolers: it keeps everyone updated on the laws and issues that come up for each country of the Ec.

http://it.groups.yahoo.com/group/scuolafamiliare/?yguid=286713246
and this is the only other list dedicated to homeschooling in general active...its run by mormons and they are not unschooly at all, but its the only list we have that is active enough to connect. We are so few and far between here it is sad.

http://it.groups.yahoo.com/group/concettodelcontinuum/?yguid=286713246
http://it.groups.yahoo.com/group/genitoriconsapevoli/?yguid=286713246

these are basically the same people...the second is smaller and is for those of us working on the "non togliermi il sorriso" site.

since I am active on both, any questions re homeschooling unschooling in italy are well received.

as I mentioned on your comment board, Id be willing to start a list of my own...but I need a little moral support! for example Im having difficulty deciding on a title. Big road block! and a description...
I could also make a gmail dedicated only for the purpose of contacts for unschoolers in italy.

All I can say is good luck, Jan! I lived in Italy for 5 years with my kids, and though I may have I never managed to meet a single homeschooler, never mind unschooler! Curious to know what publisher is translating your book? I'd love to read it over in Italian to see if the translation seems right.....I hope that it's someone who "gets" unschooling who does the translation!

Good luck!
