Radical Unschoolers Network

the network for radical unschooling families

As I said in new to unschooling, I've got seven kids 15,13,11,9,5,15mth,2mth. I would love up get some ideas on how this all works. I've been reading here and there about it. I
would like to slowly get started when my kids get back from Florida visiting.
Thank you for your time and thoughts to
come.

A good way to start is to live like you're on vacation - a good vacation where you do fun things, go fun places, and still have plenty of time to hang out and snuggle. Looking at your profile, you're transitioning from homeschooling? Do all your kids want to do that? The older kids might not, if they've been impressed with the importance of education, or they might need a good long time to deschool. If some of the kids need to hunker down and watch tv or play video games and decompress for awhile, that will make it easier on you to do fun things with the rest - that's a big age spread in terms of logistics! Be sure to spend time hanging out, though, even with kids who seem to need to pull in and "cocoon" for a time.
