Can anyone recommend an unschooling-friendly homeschool evaluator? We ate in E. Pasco but willing to drive for the right fit. We are not religious and unschool to allow our child to explore his interests deeply.

Gina, check in the Groups section to see if there's a group local to you - I don't have any idea where E. Pasco is, although I assume it's somewhere in the US. You can also find local unschooling groups here.

Thank you Meredith. That helps.

Hi Gina!  I'm new to unschooling myself and I just found out about an "umbrella school" called Florida Unschoolers.  Here is the link so that you can check out all the info. http://floridaunschoolers.webs.com/  You will never have to do another eval again.  All you have to do is report "attendance", quarterly, and that's it.  The best part of it is it's free.  It was developed by an unschooling mother.  I live in the Miami area and will be joining this umbrella school as soon as I have all my paperwork together.  Not much required, either.   I hope you find this helpful.

Gina, I am an unschooling mom and can also do evaluations for grades k-6.  I am obviously unschool friendly!!   I live in Clearwater area so I might be too far for you.  Email if you're interested in talking more.

Thanks Sandi. Although Clearwater is a bit of a drive, we are more than willing to make the trip. I'll email you for details. Thanks!

Thanks Yvette,
I'll check into the unbrella school moving forward. It sounds like a no-brainer.

Gina, we have a very active unschooling community in Pinellas County so if you're ever out this way you could join us for a park day. Also, we have an online group you're welcome to join - there are a couple of moms that are as far east as Lakeland and a couple in Pasco. If you're interested, send me a private message.

Gina, here is the link to the FB page for the Pinellas Unschoolers Collective http://www.facebook.com/groups/222914781091960/ I know there are a few people who could be at least a bit closer to you. Plus we sometimes do outings to locations in Tampa like MOSI, BG, Fl. Aquarium, etc that you could at least meet up at and you could be in on discussions regarding local unschooling stuff.

Yvette, nice to know another unschooler from Miami! We moved to the Gulf side last summer for work but have been mostly in Miami for the last ten years except for a year in Argentina and a year in Savannah, GA.

Gina, I just approved you into our group but you've got your security so high we can't even see you. I tried to friend you and I couldn't do that either. Please relax the security a bit and be sure to post an intro :) Thanks!

Hi, We are on Orcas Island, Washington State, and are registered through the Orcas Island School District. Mandy Randolph is our evaluator and is very flexible with our unschooling. She is an elementary school teacher. All check in can be done via email. http://www.orcasislandschools.org/ It's been working for us for 4 years!
