DD and I are planning to hit Florida this winter to dodge the ice and snow. We're wondering if there's an unschooling community anywhere near St. Pete? Daytona Beach? We're playing this by ear, so have no idea where we'll be staying, but those two places are ones we want to visit. We plan to stay until March or April.

The Grand Plaza in St. Pete beach is VERY reasonable, and if you are there mid Feb. -March we may see you there!

Thanks for the responses. Actually, we're looking for more of a monthly rental set-up, but figure we may have to wait until we get there to find one, because it's wicked hard to do from thousands of miles away.

It's good to know that there are RU's in FL though.

We don't know the area at all. Except for two trips to Disney World and childhood visits to relatives in West Palm Beach, Florida is a mystery to me.

I'm doing as much research as I can now and I guess we'll just look around and decide where to settle for the winter when we get there. I'll leave a message on here and see who's around wherever we are in November and December.

The kids & I are going to FL (today!) for a 10 day visit. We're staying in Cape Canaveral & Orlando. Give a holler if you want to meet up or share a favorite "don't-miss-this" suggestion or good restaurant!

Thanks,

Maybe you'll find more people near the areas you're visiting.
