Radical Unschoolers Network

the network for radical unschooling families

My 8 yo daughter loves the computer. She is also super social. I think she would love to talk to some other HS/unschooled kids on line. Does anyone know if a place exists for on line chat/IM for unschooled kids? We are rather new to unschooling, and are just starting to develop a community here in town. She still has a few friends from her old school, and we are participating more in local activities with the secular HS group, but I know she would love to chat with unschooling kids on line, too, if there is a relatively safe place to do this. Thanks so much for any information, Jerritt

P.S. I am aware that no place on the internet is completely "safe," but we would have on going talks about what is and is not appropriate to divulge on line. Thanks again.

I have a site setup for teens:
www.redefinedteenz.ning.com

She should join!
Depending on her interests, a lot of the online role playing games can be a good way to socialize, too - Runescape was Ray's favorite when he was younger, and there are lots of unschoolers playing WoW - whole guilds even.
