Radical Unschoolers Network

the network for radical unschooling families

Just wanted to see if anyone is on here that unschools in Broward County at all. Seems like it's hard to find unschoolers down here. I run a small homeschooling group and we do have some but the majority is school at homers. I would love to find some new like minds! I have 3 kids still school age and one well above and beyond.

Hi Mary,

I remember you! I talked to you a few times while I was living in Savannah and when I finally moved back to Miami I could no longer find your group :( Are you in the alternative homeschoolers group? Anyway, we're in North Miami for now and so it's easier for us to head towards southern broward to meet up with other families. DD will be three in December so she might still be kind of young but thought I'd post anyway.

No I've never been in that group. I run another group, South Broward Homeschoolers and we have mostly older children from 10-15. Sorry, I talk to so many people I can't remember you specifically.

I am currently in Broward Co and used to live down here for 5 yrs until about 2 yrs ago. But I'm back!! I am looking for other unschoolers to hang out with too, and saw that the majority of unschoolers in this group are between 10-15 as far as the young'er' unschoolers go. I am a 42 yr old unschooler and NEED friends!! But I also have some unschoolers who fit that age group, they are Josh 12 & Jake 14. Would love to get together!!

We're here in Broward County. I have two boys that are probably too young to join your group yet. They are Calvin (7) and Tyler (4). We are members of Alternative Homeschool Educators, but really only take part in field trip type stuff. Otherwise, we're just livin' and learnin' in Davie. We chose not to send our oldest to school, because 1) he has severe social anxiety (which is thankfully getting better...slowly but surely) and 2) he just can't sit still. School would have definitely killed the beautiful spirit he has. We fell into unschooling simply because it's how Calvin learns best. I didn't realize there was a name for what we were doing until about a year or so ago.
