Radical Unschoolers Network

My son Thomas (9 in Oct) got a refurbished PS2 as an early birthday gift from my mom. :) She also bought him Lego Star Wars and a memory card that they recommended she get (over at GameStop). He's having fun with that game, and also likes Mercenaries, Bully and Jaws, which he's played at a friend's house.

I'm looking for more suggestions of games he might like to try out. On the DS (just so you know what type of games he likes) he has 2 Pokemon games, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Wario, and Sonic Rush.

For our ancient N64, he likes 1080 (snowboarding), Toy Story 2, WCW/NWO Revenge (wrestling), Super Mario 64, South Park, Zelda--Ocarina and Majora's Mask, Banjo-Kazooie and Diddy Kong Racing.

Then my daughter Emily (almost 12) plays those, plus on the DS has Animal Crossing Wild World, Professor Layton's Curious Village (didn't like so much, but did finish it :)--I love it cause I love puzzles!), and Super Mario 64 DS .

They both play World of Warcraft and other computer games, like Pirates (not P of the Carrib.), Runescape, Age of Mythology, etc.

I love my PS2! Fortunately there are loads of games you can get pretty cheap on http://half.com/ or similar sites, or in the Used bin at your local game shop.

I'm a fan of the Ratchet & Clank series, Guitar Hero (got a guitar for $15 on eBay), the Jak series, and the assorted Tony Hawk games. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms series is supposed to be quite good, although I haven't tried those yet.

Spider-Man 1 and 2 are great games. So is Transformers.

I know this was posted ages ago, but I had a few thoughts this morning.

Kingdom Hearts is a fantastic series for the PS2. Kingdom Hearts II is easier than Kingdom Hearts I, or so we found. The Katamari series for the PS2 is also really good.

Oh, Hai Silvia...Paige from Staunton here. :-)

I really lurv our PS2, which is only a little neglected now that we have a PS3. But my kids and I highly recommend the Kingdom Hearts games (we have I and II), those are still family favorites. Really, really well done. And I'll always have a special spot in my heart for Katamari Damacy. I totally get "gamer thumbs" from that one, but it's just a riot.

psychonauts is a good game, it is very inventive and the voice acting is good.
