Radical Unschoolers Network

the network for radical unschooling families

as a jumping off place for discussion...
Where are you from?
How far are you willing to drive for a radical unschooling get together/park day?!

So far we only have one member from the east - Montreal - Bea. Do you want to come out to BC for a get together? A bit of a drive! Is half way Manitoba?

I live in South Surrey/White Rock, BC - just 5 minutes from the American Border (Peace Arch Crossing) and about the same distance from the Ocean. It is a Suburb of Vancouver.

I would drive several hours to hang out with other radical unschoolers for the day!

Hi. I just found this site and group and wanted to say a quick hello. We are in Kelowna, British Columbia and would love to connect with others, where ever that may be.
I am trying to figure out where to go for my first conference - they look great!

Haha, Gillian, you are everywhere aren't you :)

I am in Victoria and would love to meet up with others. We often head to Vancouver for family visits, though it is usually hectic to say the least. I would love to make it to one of the conferences, but can't currently take my son across the border (custody issues). How is the Calgary conference? That might be an option for us. We are also headed to Ottawa and maybe montreal at the end of June, anyone out that way?

We are hoping to go to the Calgary conference (timing for the life is good unfortunately is not good), but excited for a family trip to Calgary!
We are also looking to possibly move to Victoria perhaps around the summer!

I'm in Montreal! And my family and I always love meeting other unschoolers, especially since there are so few of them around Montreal!

My family and I live in Vancouver, though just my sister, brother and I identify as unschoolers. Our mother, and the rest of her family, are very resistant to the idea of not going to school being a good thing. I think it's mostly because there was a time when the government wouldn't allow First Nations peple to go pass Grade Eight.

If there is anything going anywhere in Canada that has to do with unschooler getting together, my sister and I would love to go. We haven't meet many unschoolers over here. It'd be a nice change from my friends who can be also resistant to my unschooling choice. :)

Wow - it is so great to see so many new people here! Rumors are in the wind about an RU conference in BC - so I will keep everyone informed if I hear more - it would be great to meet more of you!

Thanks for setting this up Skye, so far I'm the lonely Edmontonian, but I know there are many of us here and so many former Edmontonians! :)

Someday we'll come visit everyone out west!

HI all,
Not sure how used this is, as I just found it. We are in Edson, AB, having moved here in June from Saskatoon, where I had a great group of Attachment parenting/unschooling friends. Feeling pretty lonely in this neck of the woods.

We would love to connect with other unschoolers (anyone driving through edson on their way to jasper/edmonton, etc would be welcome to stop by :)

We're in Miami, Florida but thinking about how we might be able to eventually spend part of the year in Montreal or Ottawa so dd can have access to changing seasons as well as more French than just daddy speaking to her :) I've been trying to track down Canadian unschoolers so if you're around either area I'd love to hear from ya.

Bea, I need to contact you again !

Hi

I live in south surrey as well. My daughter gave grade 1 a try and within a week she was done with it. It would be great to meet some like minded people. It looks like we hardly have to drive at all.

Still would love to meet some other local or mainland families. Is there any news on a BC conference? That would be so great for us, since we can't really all make it across the border easily - custody issues, and Toronto is a long way away.
