My oldest DD has been Type 1 since March of 2008. Nice to be a part of this group. :D

Hello, I do not have a family member with diabetes, though I do have other types of nutritional problems. I spent a lot of my time researching the best nutrition for me and my family. I became overwhelmed and depressed with the conflicting "evidence" and "expert advice" and did not know what to do. I finally reached the conclusion to do my best to cultivate my commonsense and intuition, and to rely most heavily on tradition- tried and true nutritional protocols with space to adapt our current society. Visit Westonaprice.org for a wealth of information. I truly feel that you may benefit from it, as did I, and we eat what we want! peace and love and best to you all.

My husband was diagnosed with diabetes when he was 13, so it's very much a part of our lives. We've been very watchful of our daughters, follow a special diet, etc. It's frightening enough having an adult diabetic in the family, I can only imagine how I would feel if it was one of my kids.

My husband has lived with Type1 since he was 16yrs. It has been both a blessing and there has been some scares. I value life more since meeting him. It is as controlled as it can be but there are days it takes it's toll. We were told it usally pass from the fathers side so we look for signs in the kids. He loves to meet kids with type 1 because he relates to them so well.

Boy, talk about a narrow niche!!
Radical Unschooling Families with Type I Diabetes...how many of us could there be in the world?
My unschooled almost 13 year old son was diagnosed just over 2 years ago.
Wow, what a life change this has been!
We are doing really well with managing his symptoms because we eat a low carb diet, avoiding grains almost entirely...so much so that the Nurse Practitioner had to check his diagnosis on our last office visit.
How is it going with you?
