How to grow garlic

Okay, it is mid August (almost) and I recall Justyna once telling me garlic was a fall plant? Am I right? Can you give me a quick intro on garlic planting?

I just put the garlic cloves in the ground sometimes in the fall or this Spring I transplanted garlic from some that I had missed the previous year. As a good friend described me once, I'm a free spirit and that even translates into my gardening style.

I've planted garlic as late as November and as early as September. When would you like to harvest it?

I planted garlic the first time this past fall, and it was probably in late Oct or early Nov, a bit late. They did start to sprout, but they kept going through the winter in Virginia and I harvested a ton of them this summer. I think my problem was digging them up too late. I waited till the stalks were all brown, but I read somewhere to wait till the leaves are still somewhat green. We'll see how they taste next time I make a tomato sauce. :) Oh, and mine never flowered.

Hi new person here :) I planted mine on 1st December and just harvested loads of really good bulbs on Saturday. I think anytime fromend of September up until February is ok here (Scotland) x
