Radical Unschoolers Network

the network for radical unschooling families

For weeks I have been thinking it would be fun to start a fairy garden, mostly just mulling it over. Now for the last 24 hours I can't seem to stop thinking about it! Does anyone here have one? Does anyone here sell garden fairies? I'd rather support an unschooling family so I thought I would ask. I was going over in my mind (late last night) what things I already have around the house and yard to get me started. I'm really excited about this and open to suggestions and ideas. I am hoping to show my progess with photos in case others are interested in starting one too.

Explain what a Fairy Garden is? The other day I was walking in my pasture and came across wild snap dragons. I'm going to try and transplant some to my front yard this weekend along with some other beautiful wild flowers I came across. Wish me luck that they survive the adventure.

What do you imagine a fairy garden to be?

A fairy garden is basically a small scale garden that is adorned with whimsical type things that attract fairies! Do a google search and you might spend way too long looking at images of fairy gardens. Some people have regular size plants with special hiding places for the fairies and some use miniature blooming varieties. It got a bit too warm here in Florida to start on mine but I am still collecting bits and pieces for it. I WILL have a fairy garden in my future. Here is a site that was inspiring for me: www.doyoubelieveinfairies.co.uk
