Maya, here are some links to stuff around here you were asking about.

First, the yahoo group... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/raisingexplorers/

Then... the art gallery stuff you wondered about...
There is a children's art studio and gallery in Kennesaw. It would probably be the closest one to you Maya.. and it might prove more interesting to Violet to see children's artwork, at least for a first time. It's called The Art Station. The gallery is open 10am-5pm, monday - friday. Maybe we could plan on going together. The link ( http://artstationcobb.org/gallery.html )
There are also classes available.. There a bit expensive for my taste, my son likes clay and wants to try pottery wheel.. but, they don't have pottery wheel for his age group.

Tellus Science Museum... This is I think near Cartersville, which is going to be the closest science museum to our area. The info says it has interactive exhibits for even "the youngest." http://www.tellusmuseum.org/index.htm

This is Jump It's! An indoor inflatable playground. It is on Due West Road. http://www.jumpits.com/MainPages/Location.asp

Oh the libraries, I forgot... the cobb county library website is cobbcat.org

Libraries in Acworth; Acworth Library
4569 Dallas Street, Acworth, GA 30101

Library between us:
West Cobb Regional Library
1750 Dennis Kemp Ln., Kennesaw, GA 30152

I've never been to the acworth library, but our closest library Kemp, has a tiny, crowded kids section... so we go to West Cobb..the kid section there is spacious kids section.
thanks candy! and what was the pool where your son took lessons?
i need to get a library card ASAP!
Oh yeah, Thats West Cobb Aquatics. You can google it and find listings on their website for upcoming classes and even register for some of them. It's on Macland Rd. From the park where we met yesterday, it's really only about 10 more minutes.. straight down Mars Hill (which turns into lost mountain rd) cross over Dallas Hwy, then take a left at Macland and the pool is an indoor pool on the right.

"As far as I know, Art Station will do classes for "homeschoolers" at a per head charge of like $5 on almost any art form you want...with a minimum number, of course. I did it back before I came out as an unschooler and we had a good time--very laid back teacher, fun times, good techniques with little emphasis on doing it "right." But that was...5 years ago or more--definitely worth looking into, though. And I'd be interested in getting counted as a head, and my 10 year old son might too.
