I finally checked out Lion Brand Yarns website for the free patterns (I'd been snubbing it, honestly, as too commercial). I must say I was pleasantly surprised. There are thousands of free knit/crochet patterns. Many patterns had been reviewed by the web-site members...really nice to be forewarned if a pattern runs big/small, doesn't work or whatever. Of course, there is knitty.com (an online knit zine with free, downloadable patterns). I haven't been able to check out any new craft books/web sites lately (new baby in the house). Does anyone have any new favorites?

I'm feeling put to shame here, I used to knit for a design agency, but in the last year all I've done are my daughter's first size clothes and half a jumper for my husband that I promised him about four years ago now!

In the last week I have knitted 4 sets of handwarmers, crocheted a lacey scarf, knitted a set of slipper socks and started another set of handwarmers/gauntlets. Saturday I will be learning to make a sweater from the top down. I have 4 more slipper sets to make, one is a felted clog. I want to find a pattern for crochet or knit button necklaces too. So fun!

Oh, my lovely gauntlets are done! I'm so happy and thankful to whoever posted pix of their swank punk mits with the laces. Mine are sillier - flocked orange with green stripes and knit in the round rather than lace-up - but gosh they're warm! I've slept with warm wrists and awakened with no aches in my arms and shoulders. Hooray! Hooray! I'll be making some for George, next - need to dig through the stash today for some fun colors for him.

I crochet. I recall learning a bit when I was younger, but I didn't pick it up. Then my mom taught me a couple of stitches and I picked up a book at the library and now I have several projects I'm working on, mostly household items. I find the repetitive motion very relaxing!

I crochet. I made a bracelet with beads on it. That was a lot of fun.
