I am not sure if this is allowed or not. If not please forgive me and feel free to delete. I have just started a yahoo group for unschoolers in and around Springfield MO. I am in desperate need of getting together with other unschoolers in the area and sharing tips and suggestions. I would love for anyone to come join us.

We are about 30 minutes out of West Plains and would really like to meet up with some other unschooling families.  We are rather new to unschooling,  but the more I learn the more it feels right for our family.  My kids are 9, 5. and 3.  Are there any families in our area?

Hi Amanda. I'm in central Mo (Columbia, Jeff City area) and I started a group here a few years ago and it's slow to take off but I know I've had several requests from people in your area so I KNOW they are out there it's just a matter of finding them. My best suggestion is to also try to find friends for your kids based on their interests. Unfortunately with the park days I come across, a lot of people who say they are unschooling but then to pull out a curriculum or punish their kid for looking at them wrong. I just keep my family going and doing what I think is best and keep my options open for new ideas. If that means we don't have a ton of friends then it's not so bad, my son is my gauge and currently he is WAY happy, healthy and whole!

Hey, we are probably going to be moving back to Springfield area in the next few months and would love to meet other unschooling families. I know there are two homeschooling groups in Springfield that we might check out if we cannot find other families that are also unschooling. My children are 4 (kingsley) and 2 (eva). Hope to hear from some of you!
