Hello All, I'm curious about the difference between Homeschooling and Unschooling? I have pulled my 9yr old from the public school system for several diff. reasons and I'm still searching for the best approach, and advice...

We're in the northwest now, but we will be moving to Boston this summer. We lived there for a year while my husband was in school. He took a leave of absence, but now we are headed back so that he can finish up his PhD. My daughter is 5.5 and my son is almost 3. I think I'll post a separate thread asking for help and advice... but I definitely need some :)

In Turkish, it means like a sturdy rock. Solid, strong, there. How did you come about the name?
jill Comment by jill on January 14, 2009 at 4:45pm
nope we're not turkish, we just liked the name! thats a cool bit of info though. what does it mean in turkish? weve met a pretty mixed bunch of girl and boy kayas but most of them spelled it different.
MamaK Comment by MamaK on January 14, 2009 at 4:34pm
Hi Jill! He is indeed a boy! Is your husband Turkish, too? I ask that because My husband is, and every other boy Kaya we have met has had a Turkish bloodline. It's an old name in Turkey. But I hear it is rather popular for boys in Australia too. Neat.-K

A fellow South Shore survivor. I hear you about the road from Catholicism to Unschooling. I went to St. Joseph's until my parents let me choose to stay home. I was the one in CDD, when I wasn't able to skip, who would say, "But..." We love the White Mtns too. A childhood fav.
