Acting and Theater Classes for Unschoolers

Hey guys!

Anybody out there got a budding actor in their family?  Are you looking for a way for your kids to be active and creative at the same time?  If so, I think I just might have a solution for you.  For those of you who don't know me, my name is RaChelle Schmidt.  I am a homeschooling/unschooling mom who also happens to be an actress/director and acting teacher.  For the last 3 years I have taught acting classes at the Village Home, but this year I have decided to do something that I have always wanted to do, and start my own theater program for homeschoolers and unschoolers.  Classes are held durning the day on Monday, Tue,Wed and Sat mornings From September 19-December 17 at the Shaking The Tree studio located at 1407 SE Stark St, Portland, OR.  And are geared for ages 5 and up.  The cost for each course is $50 for 12 weeks.

This fall I will be teaching Acting 101, where we will learn the  basics of acting through well known games and exercises. 

Acting a Story is a performance based class, in which we will share our favorite stories with each other and then choose one or two to create a short play to perform on the last day of class. 

In Making Faces we will study the art of theatrical makeup and mask making.  Kids will learn how to desing and create their own character "faces". 

I will also be leading a Sketch Comedy group for teens that meets on Saturday mornings.  In this group we will create, write, direct and act in original sketches to create a show that will be performed on the last day of class.

 

Also, this year I am planning on holding a couple of staged readings and producing a play for young performers in the summer of 2012.  If you have a young actor who would be interested in performing in these productions please let me know.
