Wasn't sure if this was for us parents or our children also, but wanted to say Hey to all my fellow artists and take the opportunity to share some of our artwork, too. My son Trystan is a sketch artist (12 yrs. old)- and I am an altered/mixed me...

I am in the Mohawk Valley (Fulton/Herkimer county) and I know of no one in the area. My 11 year old DS is desperate for someone to "hang with". Is there anyone out there?

Profile Information

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
It means my children are free to express themselves in all areas. It means raising our children with loving boundaries that take into consideration who they are as individuals. It means we learn together as a family and never stop learning from all that is around us.
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
Homeschooled my son in the way others thought was acceptable, until I allowed prejudice and judgement bully me into putting him back into public school. Decided I finally had enough about 3 years ago and have been "unschooling" him without knowing that that was indeed what I was doing. I now feel comfortable from my research that we are indeed on the road to being full-fledged Radical Unschoolers. We are currently between Stage two and three (acc. to Kelly Lovejoyhttp://sandradodd.com/kellylovejoy/stages). My 8 year old daughter had a short stint in Kindergarten but without the repercussions my son experienced. It has been a long hard road but knowing that there are others out there like us is beginning to make it easier. I sincerely hope to make some friends here.
a little about me
We are a very creatively driven household. My son is a brilliant sketch artist, aspiring animator who plays guitar and piano. My daughter is constantly in the arts and crafts box and if not there she's at the keyboard singing. I am a writer (poetry, short stories, screenwriting and aspiring novelist) and an Altered Artist (digital scrapper). My younger years were spent dancing (ballet). My husband also is a creative spirit; has been playing the guitar since he was a kid. We are very big on music and art in our household and the truth of the matter is both can be found in every aspect of life.
