what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
I already think of unschooling as being pretty "radical", so calling it radical unschooling makes me think of kids being raised by wolves. The defenition of what's "radical" is it's distance from what's considered the norm. I think that distance is becoming less and less in regards to unschooling.
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
I'm not sure, maybe a couple years? The idea has grown over time in our house, and our boys are still small so it doesn't seem to be that long.

a little about me
I love my family. Second to that, I love coffee. I'm Master Roaster/Green Buyer for Raven's Brew Coffee in Olympia. I've worked in coffee for almost 12 years in almost every aspect. I love playing World of Warcraft (especially w/ my wife!)

Hi Andy~

I'll let you know when we are headed to Oly next. It would be fun to meet some new folks and play!

We were just talking today about when we could get another visit in. We usually go in late summer, but didn't this year and my kids think that going in the winter would be so cool. They are dying to play in some snow, and love the idea of wearing coats and warm snuggly clothes. The only place they've travelled in the winter is L.A. where it's been 80* at christmas!

Hi Andy,

We grow coffee for ourselves on our finca, but have grown more in the past and sold it to the local co-op. If we grow extra these days, we'd be selling to a friend who owns/runs an organic co-op...she's Janet at www.tesdelsol.com. It turned out that a more reliable income resulted from building a few small houses on the farm to rent out:( So we rent the houses and grow coffee for our own consumption.

Come on down for the Pura Vida Unschooling Conference...http://mysite.verizon.net/reszxig2/. The coffee harvest starts picking up in December. The Unschooling harvest is ongoing:)

Hey, Andy...
I've been busy with wedding plans--I'm getting married in two weeks!--but would love to talk shop with you some time! Are you going to coffeefest this year? Somehow I planned my wedding the same weekend, so I'll be missing it! Feel free to email me at thecoffee.goddess@gmail.com as well :)

My brother lives in Burbank, CA, and is a coffee-nut. He now roasts and grinds his own beans, even. Here's his site: http://jpixl.net/ , search for his homemade tamper under coffee or tamper. It's pretty cool, I think. :) They're not homeschoolers, unfortunately, but I still love them. LOL

I loved your post about playing and saying no. I spend so much time talking with my mom friends, it was a great twist to hear a dad reply. Thanks, Joanna

That's one definition. My favorite is this:
1. Arising from or going to a root or source; basic:

Hey, Andy- I met you once very briefly at the Childrens Museum. We should do a play date some time when you're home, too- I'd love to hang out.
