HelloI tried to email the group earlier.Didn't get much response. I thank Jana Dean for the hug and support! We been deschooling since June my son almost 14. After recently discussing it with another unschooling mom I've decided to try radical unschooling! The bottem line is I have control issues and this scares me! my name is Barbara. I'm a single mom of an awsome 13 yr old boy! I really need some guidance about unschooling. We have been doing an online school since October and I'm disgusted with the system of our government involvement with how schools are run.

What I have found is that it really is my issue. I am all about being positive and creating an environment that supports an happy home so for me heavy metal and video games just didn't fit my realm. However..... it does Samuel's. He connects to it. I decided to step into it with him. Next thing I knew we were singing his favorite songs in the car together.We have also had great conversations about his favorite band and what their message is in their music. When I set my judgement aside I was able to see the beauty in it all. I found out I kind of liked the music once I let go of my own fears. It has brought us closer to each other. Samuel feels supported and trusted now. Where as before my fear was creating a huge gap in our realtionship. I know for me by replacing fear with love and support our home is the peaceful happy environment that we all want. It is our haven. Much love and support to you and your family!
