what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
Unschooling means respect and love for a child's spirit.
It is living life with trust and confidence that a child is born learning. It is believing that children will keep their zest and wonder for life if the adults around will share and encourage.
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
I knew we were homeschooling while pregnant with our first. I started researching "academic unschooling" when my son was 2 years old and recently began discovering the whole family approach of radical unschooling. It just fits with our attatchment style of parenting.
names and ages of children
Micah Zion 5 years old
River Elijah 1 year old
a little about me
I am a SAHM who is always learning about gardening and landscaping. I love to putter around the yard! I am a vegetarian. I am deeply fond of local music and arts, and local coffee shops and cafes. I enjoy yoga and pilates. I enjoy travel, hiking and camping. I am devoted to my children and homeschooling/unschooling. I am also intensely interested in the issues surrounding natural childbirth, lactation, attatchment parenting and safe co-sleeping.

Buh.. my fingers don't always work right.

(when, for some reason, __some people__ thought it would be good to prevent [homeschooling])

That's what I meant to say.

Parent's rights as to the homeschooling at all I assume. There are other things that people think of when that phrase is used. Some long time advocates for homeschooling rights (when for some reason thought it would be good to prevent it) are aging and ailing.. Ned Vare. I get their newsletter. They're amazing and inspirational.

Yes. Thanks for the backup on my H$LDA comment... wink wink. :) We're a subtle lot, that.

Are you anywhere near ChiCAGo?

I don't keep any bed-size quilts "in stock" - I tried that years ago and got a lot of comments like "oh, how pretty, do you have it in green?" I have a few wall hangings. If you're thinking in terms of xmas, the sooner you can let me know the better - I know it seems like a long way away, but remember I have a ft job to juggle around these days.

about pix: it depends on whether you want to use the album feature on RUN or if you want to use slide.com. i wasn't sure which you were referring to. if you want to add pictures to the slide on RUN, just go to the main page and click on the "add pictures" link right under the slide show of pictures there. they will be added to the pool of pictures that show up there randomly by most recently added, as more are added by others yours will eventually not show up so much there. but when you add pictures there, you will automatically have a picture slide show added to your profile as well and those will not change. and you can keep adding pictures there or on the main page, either way, they will be added to your profile. then you can delete the existing pictures that are on your profile right now as they will be in your profile slide show.

did that make any sense??

-- Micah was sure that he was having a sister named baby Jesus and a friens who had a baby near the same time was told by her 3 year old that the baby should be named Brown Pizza...so you are not so bad off with Susanna. :)--

Oh my gosh. And you didn't take advantage of those wonderful names? So what's *on* a brown pizza? Sounds a little disturbing...
