what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?

It means the "radical" act of opting out of a system which is designed to school all the life and imagination and wonder and love of learning right out of children, break their beautiful little spirits and mold them into nice, predictable little sheeple to serve the state (and that which goes beyond the state).

It is the "radical" act of letting our chlldren grow and learn naturally and freely, each in their unique way, to discover who they are, be who they are, and become who they want to be!

It also means unschooling is RAD! (Get it, radical? I know)...

It does NOT mean letting your child do whatever they want without any structure, discipline, or parental influence or guidance. That's just part of being a parent!

how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?

I guess you could say since my son was born (he's now almost 4), since unschooling is merely a continuation of the natural learning process we're 'allowed' to allow up until 'school age'.

a little about me

I am an alien (a legal resident alien from BC, Canada). I'm a singer, songwriter, musician, artist, designer and insatiable learner. I am a devoted mother and 'wife' (we're not actually married, in the legal sense, but what does that matter?). I work (subversively, you might say, since I'm not religious) for a certain religious organization's newspaper/communications department, doing graphic and web design, 30 hours a week. I am working on "unworking" myself (like unschooling, but applied to work! or, freeing myself from wage slavery). I'm very excited to meet some other super rad unschoolers!
