Welcome Them!

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?: Radical Unschooling means that children are given the opportunity, with the help of their parents, to become passionate about the things that they are naturally passionate about and to learn how to solve problems and manipulate their world through the means that come to them naturally. It doesn't mean to leave them stranded in a world full of choices to fend for themselves, but to give them choices and the outlet to veer off the beaten path if it is their natural inclination to do so. It is freedom from the structure and rigidity of compulsory schooling and letting your children decide what, exactly, is important enough to learn about in this world to take the time to explore it.

how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?: My oldest daughter started unschooling at the age of nine in 2001.

My youngest daughter unschooled from birth until the age of nine, 6 months ago. we put her in school for various reasons. I'm over it. So is she.

first names of children: Zena 19 (lives independently in Portland, Oregon)
Ruby 9 (currently lives in Boonville, Mo and STL on the weekends.

a little about me: I'm a hip momma who loves to hang out with people of all ages and I am particularly inspired by creative unschooling teenagers and twenty somethings. I believe that education should be a choice. I spin fire, write and enjoy the company of people I love and admire. I don't care about social status, accumulation, commodities or the stock market. I am working for peace and freedom in this world using my own intention and energy and I enjoy being outside in the sun. I'm a youthful 41 years old.
