Our family is in it's 4th year of homeschooling, but really this is the first year we are unschooling our son (he is 17 and in his last year of school). Things are going well...I still cringe a little when I see him playing games all day or not do...

The business is a modeling school/agency. We'll mostly start with building portfolios/books for models and expand from there.:) I'll be posting about it at my blog shortly. We're mostly painting and cleaning the building right now. Exhausting and exciting....not much time for anything else at the moment. Thanks for asking!

Hey Christy! Here's the yahoogroup: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/frankchat/

We've got a great group here, lots of unschoolers and eclectic/relaxed homeschoolers. We meet officially twice per month but several of us see each other every week (usually 2-3x). I'm crazy busy right now trying to start a new business so I won't be as social for the next little bit but any time you want to come down just holler and I'll set something up!

Homeschoolers, yes. Unschoolers, no. The area near you (Bristol/Johnson City) seems to have some pretty neat stuff going on. We are kind of between high population areas. It's about an hour's drive for us in any direction to find enough people for group-type thing.

I read somewhere (on a forum here maybe?) you are spending time in Abingdon right now. If so, then we are only about 45 minutes apart because we're currently in Wytheville. We're going back & forth between here and Pulaski, where we'll be moving into our finally-renovated-after-4-long-years house within the next few months. :)

Hey there, we aren't too far from you -- at least, as far as things go in this region! In a previous life, when I was a city dweller I thought ten blocks was far, lol.

thanks for stopping over to welcome me. I'm new to the group, new to unschooling and new to participating in any online community for that matter. thanks again.

I just noticed you were up in Boone and wanted to make sure you knew about our upcoming ARGH gathering in November. We started a group here but most of the discussion is happening over at the yahoo group.

Just wanted to make sure you knew about it! :)
