Unschooling Talk

Posted on June 24, 2011 at 9:36am 0 Comments

So, Wednesday I was able to hear Pam Sorooshian speak about Unschooling at a local park in Long Beach, CA.  It was wonderful to actually speak in person with someone who has walked this road with 3 children of their own.  Her youngest daughter (20) was in attendance and shared about her life and answered questions.  I came home more convinced that this is the way to go.  My husband just finished reading Sandra Dodd's Big Book of Unschooling so we had a great discussion about how we would…

Cindy,

Rather than try to read all those books, I think go with mine--not that the others aren't going to be any use at all, but mine will be immediately helpful.  The others... not so much.  I would set Kohn and Gatto aside for a while or maybe indefinitely, if you've already decided to unschool.  Neither is an unschooler at all.   Holt's feelings won't be hurt if you don't read his. :-)

Read a little, try a little, wait a while, watch.  Don't try to read any of them all at once.  Pay more attention to your children than to books anyway!
