HELLO FROM CENTRAL TEXAS

Hi everyone!  We are unschooling 45 minutes from Austin and are looking for other unschooling families close to us (Bastrop County).  I have learned a lot from all of the discussions, especially ones on co-sleeping and junk food issues!!   I enjoy reading everyone's comments and hope to find some playmates for my two boys (8 and 10) and myself  :)See More

Profile Information

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
It means freedom. Being free to pursue anything we're interested in. Feeling free to take as much time as we want to dive into a subject. Being free to sleep until 11:00, bake brownies, and crank up the music and dance. Or just veg in front of the TV or computer. I believe the only way to find your passion in life is to have this freedom.
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
I have homeschooled my two boys for 5 years, sometimes using a curriculum, workbooks, etc. But, my heart is not in it. We are much more relaxed and joyful when we forget about "school" and just enjoy life. And, of course, this is when the real learning takes place!!
first names of children
Will Taylor (10)
Neal Taylor (almost 8)
a little about me
I'm an older mom who wants my kids to have the freedom to find their passions. I love reading books, listening to music, and baking. I am very introverted, need a lot of quiet time, and even though I would like to have beautiful organic gardens, I can't keep a plant alive to save my life.
