Hi again everyone, My family is in the deschooling process. I asked about "doing enough" while the kids are watching loads of T.V. I'm feeling a lot better about that right now, but have one more question. We are so lucky to have an active, weekly homeschooling/mainly unschooling group in our area. My children and I love going. I see lots of offers to go to field trips, plays, events, you name it. I've asked my kids if they'd like to go to some of these events that they enjoyed before, mainly…See More

Doing enough?

Hi everyone, As a new unschooler, I could use some advice on something that's been bothering me.  Since I've lifted TV & game restrictions, my kids have been watching a lot more TV than before ... which is expected. I'm getting more comfortable w/ it & have been enjoying the shows they watch with them. However, how do you know that you're doing enough to expose your children to other things?? We have books everywhere, we talk a lot about different things, have games, & we've been…See More

Just starting out

If I hadn't heard about unschooling, I would have never had the opportunity to critically look at the way I treat my children. I always considered myself to be a loving and responsible parent, but since my kids were born, it always came with a condition ... to do what I or my husband asks, with the rationale being that we know best.
