Acceptance within the wider family

Are you accepted within the wider family or is your way of life getting between you and your relatives?I am asking as there is a true struggle within my side of the family (mainly my sister's family) - struggle so big that we were not invited to the almost whole family get together over Christmas at my sister's.I am hurt and sad and so are the children. If you are going through the same sad reality - how do you deal with it?Would you approach the relatives or would you accept the exclusion and…See More

Ester Siroky replied to Melinda Auld's discussion "In the real world..."
"Thank you, Meredith for your thoughts. Relationships can be hard work, especially within family, as one does not choose who will be part of it and who will not - easier with friends, I guess, as one chooses with whom to be friends. I want to…"

Profile Information

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
Letting children pursue their interests and dreams, as well as letting myself and my husband do the same.
Living together and learning together.
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
Our eldest is 20 years old - must be 20 years now - even though eldest children did go to school, full-time and part-time for a while.
first names of children
Simeon - 20, Rachel - 18, Natan - 16,
Bartholomew - 14, Aron - 12, Efraim - 3.
a little about me
I live in the Scottish Borders and I'm married to Samuel.
I am a full-time at home mother. Originally from the Czech Republic and so is my husband. We speak mainly Czech at home.
We live quite remote, in a valley, nearest town 15 minutes away. Some of our children went to school for a while. Now we all live and learn together and it feels natural and good.
