Hi Gillian, It's been awhile so I thought I would say hi. I hope you had/are having fun on your trip!

Gillian,
I saw your response at the Live and Learn thread and I wanted you to know that it is the last L&L conference, BUT the unschoolers here in East TN are planning a gathering called ARGH to be held twice per year.

It's a simple gathering where the idea is to hang out and have fun. No speakers, but lots of sharing and fun workshops as people choose what they want to share.

I created an ARGH group here and there is a yahoo discussion as well if you'd like to keep up on what is happening with it: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AutodidacticRadicalGatheringofHomeschoolers/

Thanks for adding me as a friend. I have been sorta near Trinidad. My husband and I went to Aruba in 2000. We loved it there and the locals were really nice. Most locals that we talked to were from Venezuela. My maternal grandmother is from South America. I'll always have a fondness for people south of the U.S.! My favorite aunt was from the Bahamas.

I wish you much peace on your adventures with your beautiful children. I enjoy reading your blog. You have a way with words. I think that is why you must be doing well with your business explorations.

Thank you for the luxurious response! It must be tough to feel so isolated sometimes. I adore our unschooling tribe. Thank goodness for the internet eh?

Your store fascinates me...what a cool adventure even if it did take over a bit. I had fun poking around your blog and wondered if I could include this one: http://groundinggroundinggrounded.blogspot.com/2008/06/in-tune-with-spirit.html
in the current blog carnival I'm hosting here.

Reading about you flying out of Quito reminded me that
dh and I had researched the heck out of Quito and a couple other places in Ecuador a few years ago. It sounds like perfect year-round weather to me. But our
dreams to us to TN instead. Ironic really.:)

So I'm curious what the unschooling atmosphere is down where you live? When I look at a map, it seems like I could just skip across all those islands from FL down to your part of the world.;) I wish.

Would love to hear about your region! It looks amazing.

Efua's First Gourmet Creation

Well, she did it herself. You may not believe me and I did not take any pictures of the process but Efua, 3 almost 4, made soup herself tonight. I was engrossed in some ridiculous websurfing - hey I have to have some entertainment sometimes - and she was busy at the table taking things out of the fridge and cutting up vegetables, and mixing, and putting things in the pot. It was only when it came to lighting the fire that I jumped in. And I also cut up a tomato which she put in.
