We have not gotten to homework. I guess I figured we would be helping him when he asks for help. Though if that gets to be SO much time that it affects other important things- like my other kid - that could be difficult. Could you give them lots o...

Hello hello. I'm reporting here from the bunker - that's what it feels like. We had a rough Sunday night at our house . . . well, at least my dd did. (Ah, yes, Sunday nights . . . seems like long long time ago that I felt that Sunday night angst)...

Yes- I know how you feel! A large part of my identity is wrapped up in being an unschooling mom. But I am finding that I can still be the kind of parent I want to be - even with a kid in school. It is important to keep the relationship the same, I...

Good morning. I'm sure struggling here. DD is totally into the first few days of high school. She loves telling me all about the teachers and other students and what they did in class. My insides are going crazy. I feel uneasy and embarrassingly c...

Hi Ann- I like that too. That helps to think of it that way. I can appreciate and enjoy my child's interest in something without actually appreciating and enjoying the actual thing. Though one often leads to another. I never really liked jazz for...

Good morning: My dd left for her first day of high school this morning. She was so nervous, she woke up at 4 am. We ate breakfast together, and had a cup of tea. I walked her to the train, told her I loved her, and to "go get 'em". Then I walked a...

Yeah, I know what you mean - my husband and I both have this reaction. My son also seems to feel pretty angry when rules don't make sense. Maybe it is a natural reaction from a person who has a lot of freedom. My husband and I both have our own bu...

The best I have done is to be (relatively) neutral in this situation. I am glad that my son has found something he wants to try - but I am very skeptical about how it is going to work. I have found that I have gone through a lot of intense emotion...

I got an email from them, but haven't met them yet. I was looking for riding boots in June for Marie and Sarajane's trip to Montana, and they responded after I found some. I will look them up again, but I don't think I have their contact info or address if you want to share it.

Hi Heather, I love Ithaca, so I thought I'd pop in and say Hi! My family lived in Corning, NY for a year and a half and we visited Ithaca often! I love hiking up Toughkenack,(or however you spell it) to the falls, it is so beautiful up there, and so much funk and culture, I just love it! We actually are hoping to come up there in the next few weeks!!

Hey, Heather. We'll be moving to Ithaca sometime during 2009, so I'll definitely join TC Unschoolers then. Thanks!

I joined to see what this format is all about. My son, age 15, has a facebook page. I told him I joined something similar but for moms(dads too) and he didn't believe it. I was hoping to also connect more with radical unschoolers, especially those in NY.
