Profile Information

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
Radical unschooling sounds radical to society, but for me and my family it feels normal, sane, peaceful, and humanistic. It is how we live our life in all aspects. As we grew into radical unschooling, we found that it has affected even my husband's and my career choices. For me radical deschooling has been self affirming, and has given me a new found confidence to trust myself and my children in following our intuitions, beliefs, and passions.
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
We have been unschooling for four years now. We were living in ways that I would consider to be unschooling in nature long before that. It is four years ago that we stopped fighting the "system" and went off on our own.
first names of children
Two of my children are now adults and live on their own -Thomas aged 28, and Alexandra aged 24. My youngest, who is still living with us, is Jonathan aged 15.
a little about me
I grew up in the States and as an adult moved to Costa Rica where I still live. I started out as an artist and later studied education and educational psychology. For the last 18 years my work and passions have been in environmental education, cooperatives, organic gardening, politics, and my family.

Hola,

Thank you for your supportive words!

At the moment we are on holidays in Germany. We are planning to go to South or Central America. In Panama or Peru I might find a home for us, the future will show it.

Because of the horrible free education situation in Europe and the first border closings for emmigrants... we want to leave Europe as soon as we can. But to find an affordable home is not as easy as I thought.

About comments from Britons or people who live in South/ Central America I would be very pleased.

To know the right persons is everything. You only need to know the right, not the quantity of persons is important.

My kids are so happy to learn free and without pressure, in comparison with enforced pupils from Europe you can see it very clear. They have learned so much only by playing, drawing, watching, talking, looking and reading books... it is interesting how different they are and what different interests they have, I learn a lot from them.

saludos,

Klara
