Bliss the following is from Sandra passed along through the AlwaysLearning yahoo group: The Family RUNning site is down and Holly and I need to leave for an out of town wedding soon. Someone was unable to view that video, and I wrote to Lee to s...

The New Battlestar Galactica was very well done, but way too scary for my six year old, and too intense in parts for my eight year old (plus lots of adult content, which is okay, but some of it was a bit much for me.) Funny how for your guys Inu ...

We don't have netflix, so I don't know if my suggestions will be all that helpful, but here goes: My kids love Inu Yasha (we've watched seasons one through five, some of them can be scarier than others), and Ranma 1/2 (only seen season one so far...

"the bottom line is, if a parent makes the good stuff available and interesting and fun, then the negative stuff won't have much appeal will it?" Also, keep in mind that just because the parent sees something as negative doesn't mean they are rig...

"but i was probably just reacting to the scary prospect of letting go totally and letting my little girl run wild!" No one is suggesting your little girls run wild. They suggest to not place arbitrary limits on their interests based on your fears...

"But when they're in the house and she's all dolled up, what am i going to do? I have to pretend that it's all ok with me... "Oh sweety, it's ok, all that stuff i said about barbie dolls doesn't matter, you like them, i want you to be comfortable ...

"She said that the family discussed consequences because the older kids were being abused by the younger and there was no way for it to stop other than removing them." What age range? How can youngers abuse olders? My son (3yrs) will hit his sis...

"Again, this is the example I am using. The real challenge is the overall big picture and everything else that goes along with it, not just this one example. So please do not assume that it is just this one thing and as such is “no big deal”. It i...

"There are kids in first, second, third grade who are said to be reading, and getting good grades at school in "reading," but that's because they're using materials that create the illusion that they can read. They're reading carefully created thi...

My answer is to not fret. Your kids have lots of time to learn to read. When my (now eight year old) daughter was five I expected her to be reading soon. I thought I was reading before kindergarten. It turns out I didn't start till nearly eight (...

"Her example was that one of her kids is constantly pulling the bathroom towels off their racks onto the floor." Is she saying he walks into the bathrooms at every opportunity and pulls the towels down? OR Does he pull them off when he is tryin...

My daughters (6 and 8) are pretty good at telling when they are tired. However, they often choose to stay up anyway. They are able to choose which is more valuable to them in the moment: getting some sleep, or playing a game/watching a movie/finis...

"my biggest concern is to keep them home with us and live a RU life in peace. I do believe these are all normal feelings (being so new at this), I just hope it won't take to long to get relaxed(a grip) with the fear of them being put back in schoo...

"now all they do is fight" That statement cannot be true. Try to change your focus. The fighting is bothering you, but there must be times they get along. Maybe the quiet times are easier to overlook. A change of environment might help mix thing...
