I would like to have some inputs about Candy. Thanks in advance

Candy update: The first couple of days, I could tell candy and ice cream sandwich were in my son's mind a lot. Every time he wanted a piece of candy and ICS, he would come to ask me. I always said...

Hello from a new member in Surrey, BC

Welcome! I am pretty new here. I used to live in Vancouver and I am hoping to move back there in the next couple of years. We do spend time there in the summer time. Hopefully I can connect to unsc...

Dear Sandra, Meredith, and Joyce; I really appreciate your replies. To be honest, when I first read Sandra and Meredith's replies, I didn't get it. I was still confused. "So should I set limit or ...

We have been following unschooling philosophy in the last couple of weeks and have seen some amazing results. The unschooling philosophies I have been following: 1. Say "yes". 2. Get down on the ...

Thanks for letting us know you feel better and were ultimately not upset with the advice (even if you were, a bit, at first). I like the homemade candy idea too, and you can make candy that's more nuts than candy, maybe. Suckers and lollipops, e...

You can make your own candy, too, you know, hard candies or even simple soft candies, like fudge. I've made super simple candies using a frosting recipe and nut butter, or cream cheese instead of butter so it gets thick faster. That ends up using ...

** Now he likes candy. ** What his body craves is quick energy. Picture him as a little hunter gatherer out in the natural world. It wouldn't make sense for him to fill up on meat and vegetables. They're slow to digest and the energy is released ...

It might help you to do some research into oral hygiene and dental health - read about bacteria and mouth pH and the cycle of demineralization and remineralization. There's a lot more to it than sugar, and it may calm your nerves *and* give you so...

Profile Information

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
1. Living a life and lifelong learning
2. Follow the passion, nurture the curiosity and creativity
3. Respect who we are
4. Focus on today instead of tomorrow (tomorrow will be taken care of when we focus on today)
5. Truly valuate the time together
6. Guardianship to our children instead of ownership
7. Be happy now instead of later
8. Being each other's guide
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
Looking into it four or five years ago when I was pregnant with my first child.

Made up my mind a couple of weeks ago when my son started his first preschool. After two weeks, he was out of school.

a little about me
I am one of the product of "successful traditional schooling", which means I beat most of my peers to be the "outstanding" one in school, by grade and university I attended. But my real intensive learning started at 30 years old when I started reading "real" books instead of text books, experiencing "real" life instead of "insulated" life through living and traveling. I learned so much and I enjoyed learning so much. I regret the time wasted in memorizing all the "facts" that are totally irrelevant and emotional and psychological scars I have been carrying for so long (For example, I was labeled "not good at art" at first grade since I didn't draw the eggplant as instructed)

I don't want my children to go through all the nonsenses. I don't want my children to suffer in order to be happy in the future. I want them to be happy today and live a fulfilling life NOW.

I didnt' really follow any particular "theories", but ended up having two beautiful home births, sleeping with my children, carrying them in my precious baby carrier, traveling since they were tiny and now unschooling them.

Reading and traveling are my two main passion. I am hardly at one place more than one or two months. I travel through "regular way", home exchange and other alternative ways of traveling. It is much easier for me to jump on a plane to go to another continent than driving to Costco.

I love outdoors.

My next two things on my list is to live on a sailboat and/or a motor coach for a while.
