Profile Information

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
Radical unschooling describes our family living in freedom, equality, and harmony.
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
None of our kids have ever been to school, so since the beginning 15 years ago, I suppose. Attachment parenting led quite naturally to this lifestyle.
first names of children
Rhanna, 15
Thane, 10
Emrys, 6
Gwyneth, 2
a little about me
Our radical unschooling lifestyle colors everything about our world, which is so beautiful. All of our children were born at home. One of our children has epilepsy and disabilities (which I only mention in case another special needs unschooler wants to reach out).

yeah. And hardly anyone is all wierded out by homebirth the way they were 21 years ago when I had Aiden! I was essentially accused of endangering my baby's life pretty often...

Yup, I'm real. Oh! Unassisted home birth! I think that would be so cool. Yeah, my honey is a little freaked by that idea.LOL I think I'm done having children anyway. I was 42 when Gage was born. I had a great midwife who pretty much stayed out of my way;-)

Hi Kelli! I was disappointed also that my message turned out to be from a spammer. So I thought I'd drop you a line, one non-spamming radical unschooling mom to another! Hope you're having a great day, and I dislike the IDEA of doing dishes, but once i'm actually in the task, I find it kind of meditative...

Thanks for the comment back. I too, love hearing about other uc births and how wonderful they are. All 3 of ours were wonderful experiences that I will treasure always and wish all women could experience. I share my experience with others, but not many are on the same path as we are! And most don't have their husbands on board with the same philosophy! Plus it takes much research and study in order to feel confident in doing it this way! Goodluck with number 4!

I just love your dancing goddess dolls! Great website!

Congrats on #4.

I'm also an unassisted homebirther, with daddy catching all 3. My first and third were water births and all 3 were only a couple of hours of active labor and out they came!

I feel like you about women and taking control of their births and claiming their intuition in all things. I had qualms about Ricki Lake's movie and was upset that the last thing on the film was about a hospital birth...but that is what is going on in the US....doctor's are more like gods than just another human being trying to help someone with a health issue. But at least people got a taste of what it could be like doing a homebirth, so that is good...just to get the thought out there was good I thought. But it did cause a great scare in the medical arena! Midwives are having more and more restrictions put on them, but it's at least better than having a hospital birth. All those medical people take over and take away women's powers. My mother was an ob/gyn nurse, so hearing her stories were my main reason to have a homebirth! She gave us such hassles that my first pregnancy sucked. I was always second guessing myself and was stressed out. But my last pregnancy was sublime, no stress and no family interference! Yeah, and it was the fastest birth! She is now 1 1/2 and I can't believe she is so big already!
Welcome to the group. Look forward to talking more!
