what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?: living the life that we want to live together without worrying about what anyone else thinks about it
being respectful of each other
having fun
follwing our dreams

a little about me: I am a single mom to one teenager as well as "mom" to th e rest of the gang of kids in and out of my house most days. My primary hobby is reading and some days (ok most days) I have trouble getting my head out of a book long enough to deal with my own life. Lizzy and I share our home with a woman with disabilities which is how I make my living.

HSC conference was especially great this year - lots and lots of fun things to do. I like seeing the influence of Live and Learn on the HSC conference - more mixed-age activities rather than age-segregated and funshop types of activities like ATC's.

Having been active in the Civil Rights movement there in the early 60s, I certainly understand her indignation; but I do hafta admit that it's a LOT better there (and in all of the South) now than it was before the Civil Rights Act of 65. Parenthetically, if you've seen or heard of the movie Passing Glory, the "all-White" high school depicted in that movie is the one I attended, although we were integrated before 65. It's an interesting small-scale look at that time period. It's a movie, so it's not reality; but it's pretty accurate.
