what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?: It means seeing my children as full fuman beings, not lesser than me because they are smaller/younger, and trusting them to make decisions regarding themselves FOR themselves. It means providing for them a home that is safe, filled with love, interesting and fun, and in no way like school! It means respecting them and their individual interests, being there to guide them if they need guidance, being their friend and maintaining a kind, honest relationship with them.

how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?: I have been aware of, and leaning towards unschooling since my son (now 4 yrs old) was an infant, although admittedly back then, the idea of radical unschooling seemed, well, too radical to me. I guess I was more planning on no curriculum, but having some rules around tv, food etc.. Over time however I have realised it's impossible to seperate learning from life, they're one and the same. I either trust my children, or I don't. I choose the former!

a little about me: I am a 25 year old single parent from Australia. I enjoy gardening, cooking, and learning guitar. I also have an interest in social and environmental issues (such as feminism and self-sufficiency.)
