I like a Jimmy Buffett song he wrotre about his then 4-yr old daughter called "Delany Talks to Statues" that is really nice, it aptly captures the innocent life of a child. I don't think he knows about unschooling, but he's gotta be a fun dad to h...

Wow Frank! This is pretty cool of you to share! I think Sandra gets a lot of flack for her online bluntness, and in the wake of their whiny complaints it's nice that she gets some glorious praise, too. I hope she knows how many people she has impa...

But it won't help you to move in the direction of peaceful parenting to have thoughts in your head about how other parents have also messed up. It could give one a false sense of support. Knowing that you are not the only one who messes up from ti...

Profile Information

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
It's a way of raising kids with respect and not necessarily a schedule or plan for the day. We have fewer "rules" than most families and I like to think we have MORE FUN!!!
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
I'm still learning the ropes! We have not officially entered school age yet, so nobody (except MIL) is really bothering us about school too much; it seems OK that DS is not in preschool because not all kids go, but I feel like we've been unschooling since birth (4yrs), although getting closer to radicalness in the past 6 mos.
names and ages of children
We have 1 boy child, Damon Maverick, age 4
a little about me
I run a consignment event twice a year called Pass It On where parents can buy and sell gently used kids stuff. It's a blast to organize this! Sometimes it's a challenge to be the mom I want to be and get my work done too, but everyone I work with has kids too, so we just have our business meetings at the cool indoor play places in town! And I need my MIL to watch my son during sale week, but so far that is working out. She gets time with her grandson, I'm glad they are close, and I get to do the fun Mom things for the rest of the year. ;)
