I live near Seattle and have encountered hundreds of unschooling families via two unschooling groups. The Eastside group has over 200 member families and the Seattle group has 66. We never have a shortage of group activities to participate in. Th...

We're one of those families with itchy feet who like to move fairly often. Maybe we just haven't found the right spot yet or maybe we just like the excitement of new places and people. But right now we're considering a couple of places but still l...

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
We're still learning what it means to us. We initially thought about homeschooling but have shifted towards a more unschooly philosophy because it just feels right. I think it will be an extension of the way we already parent.
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
Technically we're not yet because dd is still not "school" age but we incorporate the ideas already.
names and ages of children
Caitlyn who will be three on December 26. She was born in Argentina during our year abroad!
a little about me
I'm originally from Connecticut but have been living in Miami for the last ten years. We spent a year in Buenos Aires, Argentina where the entire pregnancy, including conception and birth was. We just got back to Miami after a year and a half split between Carrboro, NC, Savannah, GA and San Antonio, TX.

My husband, Stephane, is French and is a soccer buff.

We have our own business which is still new but it our key to our being able to stay home with our daughter. Currently we're trying to keep both of us working from home.

We speak French and English with Caitlyn and I plan to start working with her in Spanish soon as well.

Hi Laura! I had looked at your blog a while ago. I didn't know your husband was French. It's funny, I also spent a semester "abroad" in Buenos Aires when I was in college. Does your daughter speak French and Spanish? I'd be curious to know more about how you handle multiple languages in your house. I speak English to dd, dh speaks German to her, and dh and I speak French to each other. So far dd doesn't seem to understand very much French, and prefers speaking English, although she has no problem understanding German (she's 3.) I'm trying to see this as conducting a little linguistics experiment, and trying to not put pressure on dd to learn any particular language... It's hard sometimes living in Montreal, people expect her to know French!
