what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
Freedom! Openness. Trusting each other and ourselves. Embracing life, love, truth, joy, and curiousity! Embracing each other-wherever we're at!
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
I've been unschooling myself since I dropped out of college 15 years ago- although I didn't have a name for it! I've been unschooling my son since reading John Holt when he was in-utero! After some discussion we removed any remaining restrictions on food, sleep, video games and television on 9/8/08...
names and ages of children
Tobias- who likes to be called "Tag"- Turns 7 in less than a week!
a little about me
I love to hang out and play board games with my family. I love learning about anything new. I like to travel, sing, read, paint, draw, knit, and make pottery. I've recently taken up spinning. I guess I like to do just about anything that involves making things with my hands! I'm interested in cooking, the womanly arts, and adoption. I'd love to have a big family!

Hey Lily, how is it going? I just learned that here in WA you don't need any kind of license to say you're a coach / counselor, I just thought that was funny. The term grief coach, though doesn't sound funny at all, it sounds wrong-ish.

I'm wondering if any Texans will be coming out here to the West Coast for the Life is Good Conference over Memorial Day weekend. I didn't have my kids at RE, so I'm looking forward to having them experience this life, this crazy RU vibe.
I hope you're well, and happy and following your dreams.

I'm gonna find you on the UC database thingee. I'd rather just email. Makes me kooky to have to keep opening the link and blah blah blah. lol. Our kids sound JUST alike!!! weeeee More later.

I was thinking of trying to organize a get-together for all the returnees and those interested in hearing about the conference. Maybe we could meet at Central Market or something so the children could play and we could meet and visit?

I wish I had gone to Sunday's EFT thing too! I don't know too much about it and thought it "wasn't for me," but now I regret it because she was sooo good and now I'm really interested in it.

I just LOVE Dayna Martin. I didn't get to Nurturing Passions, but I went to Respectful Partnersips and Turst the Universe and they were just wonderful!

This format is kind of weird. I don't really like being able to read everyone's posts....hmmm. Do you like it? I think I'll post my get-together idea on UC list and see what comes up. I totally just lurk there too. I rarely post, but I have a few times.

What's Tag into? I love the name Tobias AND Tag. Both so cool. Finn's really into guns (gulp) and Star Wars and super heroes and swordplay and the Magic Treehouse books and still into cars.

Printing cards at vistaprint.com, right? They always have good deals.

I figured out how to delete my talking to myself, thanks so much- that was easy!

Ahhh yes- I kept looking for you to share an idea. I am so glad you sent me this note. Our local fire dept has some kind of volunteer program, like a victim's assistance thing. The lady goes to the scene of the incident as often as she can, but mainly follows up on the telephone helping people heal from whatever their trauma is. It could be a fire, a car accident, a break-in or whatever else someone would call 911 for.
Anyhow- thanks for the note. It was so nice to meet you.
(and oops, I put this comment on my page, I hope I don't look like too much of a dork talking to myself!)

There is a pretty active unschooling group here. You can find them at Yahoo and it's called Unschooling Community of Austin. Are you already on there? Did you see that this group was started by a 13-year-old girl? So cute.

Hey, what was the Find A Tree session at RE? Did you guys go to any Dayna Martin or Sunday Cote sessions? Let's get together!
