It's a good question, and we haven't consciously addressed it very much, except for the hair thing. One of my boys has hair to his shoulders, and the other has hair down his back. Longish hair seems to be sort of trendy among boys right now, and a...

If you're setting up dates *before* getting to know the person, you might be waiting a long time to find somebody you click with, I mean statistically speaking that's like searching for a needle in a haystack. What's your social scene like right n...

Lots of good suggestions here! Please, give yourself a break! I have children spaced about the same, and when they were those ages I seriously was struggling. It is such an intense time, and it is honestly going to be so no matter what you do -- ...

The last lines make me angry and sad. But a great story. Melissa, I have a similar story -- my son was amazing at puzzles when he was little, and he had so much fun doing them. My FIL came over one day and proceeded to teach him the "right" way t...

"It's almost like Logan is TRYING to make me explode in anger like I used to. Why would he want that?? It makes no sense." Maybe it does. When you are exploding in anger, it's a least a clear sign that you are paying attention. And if he's angry ...

We love Netflix! Recently we've been watching a lot of Doctor Who, they love it, but there are some bits that were borderline acceptable to my sensitive child (he's 10) because of scariness or emotional issues. Probably be fine for most. Off the ...

It *is* a big deal. I mean yes, towels on the floor in the grand scheme of things is in itself not a big deal. But it's not nothing either -- it could mean mildew, towels that have picked up dust mites that irritate skin, extra unnecessary work fo...

Thanks Linda! It'd be great to see you sometime here if you visit. You can check out our Yahoo group for COOL if you search for Central Oregon Open Learners you should find it. I'm the moderator so I'll approve you for membership. You can be on there while you think about what you want to do.

Or, by the time there was the canal, it must have been by train across, huh?

Yay! I requested friends from Berserk 566 (Simon's) and will do the same for Linnaea's (Vampire616) sometime later today, probably. It's amazing the myriad of ways you can connect with people. Used to just be letters on slow boats down through the Panama Canal and across to the UK.

Hi - missed you on Monday night - I hope you were doing something wonderful!

Love your profile pic - we're eating tons of blueberries at our house, so we may be looking like that really soon. Ha!

Violet Beauregard has long been my alter ego in the Willy Wonka universe. Partly because she looks a lot like I did as a little girl, partly because she's blue which is my favorite color, partly because her name is Violet, which was my grandma's name, and partly because she's got such a great expression on her face. I know, I'm weird. Anyway, this used to be my avatar online, and then got replaced for a time with some iridescent circles, which I got tired of, so I felt like maybe it was time to bring Violet back. :)
