what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
Not trying to force my kids to do things for no reason. Recognizing the difference between my needs and theirs.
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
I've been homeschooling technically I guess since my eldest didn't go to Kindergarten in 1998. I loved the idea of unschooling then, but when she reached official school age, I decided to go with a classical method, but when I realized that we weren't really doing any of it, I decided to "admit" we're unschooling.
first names of children
Emilee (16) Meagan (13) Gabriella (9) Madelyn (7) Grace (4) and Evelyn (2.5)
a little about me
I'm sometimes overwhelmed with all these different personalities and interests in my house. I try to cherish this hurricane, knowing that when they're grown I will miss it but sometimes I feel like it's going to knock me over.

in awe of everything human

My 11 yr old is more "into" politics than I have ever been. She's an activist at heart. She inherited my passion for writing, but she always seems to have a greater purpose. Today she had friends over so they could stand on the corner & hold up signs. "Support our troops, bring them home."

Once again, I am amazed by my kid. Even more amazed when I think that each human on the planet is amazing. There are so many millions of ways to be amazing, and she's just one teeny example.… Continue

Hi Lisa,

Yes I'm the LIG lady.:o) Thanks for your comment.

I'd love to have the Martins speak at the conference, but I'm afraid the expenses to get them there would just be too much right now. Maybe in the future. We do have some GREAT voices for next year though! I look forward to meeting you.

Hi Lisa,
Let me be the first! How is your business going? And may I say my WA neighbor that I am soooo glad we are friends! I would love to talk with you about the possibility of finding writers for my online women's magazine, AuthenticTimes.com - good fit, yes?
My magazine is new, very new and I have 9 subscribers at this point. I still love to write, but it would be nice to have some articles on the side when stuff comes up as I publish every Friday! Right now I give a free month for an article... what is the range of payment for say a 700-1200 word essay?
smiles, awesome business woman extraordinaire!!!

Oh yes, I remember you. I was in the front row every time. Didn't I see you in the teenage liberation group, too? I came in in the afternoon and left about an hour later.

It was fun having everyone there. My oldest spent most of the time doing computer stuff and missing out on the fun - she kind of figured out how much fun later, when she met some of the other teens.

My mom got to go to the grandparent roundtables and had a good time. She's still not buying in totally; I think she has simply decided to trust me and quash all the alarm bells in her head.

I love JCP. We see him everytime he comes to the Waldorf School in Austin. He's just amazing.

Hi lisa, I have 1 girl, 2 boys, in that age order. Since mine are pretty ancient (in homeschooling terms) we spent more time in the Joe Pearce seminars, the Summerhill film, the videogame room - watching our teens - and the lobby bar. LOL. However, I was almost always in tie-dye and often flanked by my mother, if that rings a bell.

Funny! I do have 3 boys. They're 7, 3 and 1. Your comments made my day though. I sure don't feel any of those things most days. :)

Hey Lisa! I was wearing a purple shirt and have a lot of tattoos. Your baby (Evelyn I think) was playing with my husband's Blackberry at the Entreprenuer Panel too. She was cute!
