I can't wait to start unschooling! My 11 yr.old daughter is in FL with her dad for 3 more weeks...I wish there were more unschoolers near me (Covington County), I'm worried about my daughter not having much socialization...

Profile Information

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?: I am new to the whole unschooling philosophy, having been born and raised in NY. But I have recently relocated my family to Alabama and finally feel free to live my life and raise my children the way I have always wanted -- radical unschooling to me is the way life is suppose to be! Since my 11 year old told me she wanted to be "homeschooled" this coming year, I have researched the subject pretty much non-stop and unschooling seems to be the perfect solution to raising happy, successful children, who actually can spend their lives doing what makes them happy, instead of "what they are supposed to do according to others". I have found the courage to pursue writing and photography, at 39!!!! I have a thirst for knowledge and am very impressed with your website!!!

a little about me: Survivor of domestic violence, finally free from an abusive mother (moved 2000 miles away from her), am starting over at age 39, getting an online Bachelor's Degree (can't afford to pay my student loans back yet), hoping to find the "right" family business so I can work from home and contribute to making society a better place--still looking for ideas!!! Love to write, sing, take pictures, and play with my children (I jump on the trampoline with them). Can't wait to introduce my 11 year old to unschooling!!!! (she's visiting her dad in FL for the summer).
