My son is REALLY into rockets, so follow that lead I have been trying to find materials for him to read about how rockets are built, he has designed one that he wants to build and now we will build it with real materials. Through the process he has been reading, writing down ideas, drawing plans, researching how to make the thing launch (chemistry!), and engineering. As his support team, I have been helping him search for the information, together we have gone to the library, and his Dad actually knows rocket hobbiests who he is going to talk to as well. Pretty cool, and look at all the subjects we covered in a much more interesting way than sitting in a classroom, memorizing and filling out worksheets. But what do I know, I am just figuring this stuff out along the way. I want to encourage his creative learning by being the back up support team to his ideas.
