what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
respect, joy, learning
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
My children are too young for the school, but of course they also learn, and my husband and I facilitate their learning and learn alongside. And I just found out two days ago that the way we interact with our children is called radical unschooling :-)

a little about me
I work full time as a researcher at a University, doing experimental physics. With a fellowship from the Royal Society to do my research with a flexible schedule, I have a lot of time to spend with my children. In my life, education, grades, awards, career were always very important, and it is only with the birth of my children that I could start exploring alternative ways of living, mostly influenced by my husband. Both kids born naturally at home, we practice attachment parenting, including baby wearing and tandem breastfeeding, and in general respect our children. We are currently exploring alternatives to school education, I am very excited about the prospect of unschooling our children, just need to figure out how am I going to do this while working full time and convince my husband who is scared of unschooling saying that he, though educated in waldorf school, would not learn to read if not forced, as it was such a pain to learn reading...

Hi Olga
There are lots of unschooling families in Edinburgh, we have a ning network setup for Edinburgh Home Ed families. Stay in touch and when you get into town you can meet one of us so you can join our network. Our network is private so we just want to meet families and make sure they are real home ed families before approving.
There are quite a few little ones around as well.
I look forward to meeting you in the future.
