Food Restriction Solution

I have struggled with the whole food restrictions issue for awhile now not because I believe in restricting food but for one, I do need to watch my daughters diet to some extent. Her blood pressure and heart rate can soar to extremly scary levels that started when she was three years old. After a zillion tests and almost hospitizing her a few times they never really figured out why. She can get very close to heart attack levels and is extremly scary, the only thing that ever seems to help is…See More

Re-Awakening

Posted on April 16, 2013 at 4:58pm 0 Comments

For the last couple of years, I started to withdraw from the whole unschooling community. My energy was waning and activities slowed down from my lack of energy as well as severe financial constraints. We left a good paying job after hubby had 2 heart attacks at 38 years old.

It also happened to happen at 2008 when the economy crashed. We moved from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to North Carolina. We went a whole year without a job and paid our bills from scrap metaling alone. This…

Loving our Unschooled Life

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 9:09am 2 Comments

A year ago seems so long ago now and so much has changed for us as we continously strive for a happier life. A year ago was just going into our second year of unschooling and I was still full of doubts, panic attacks and feeling as if I was never doing enough. A year ago hubby was working as a fast food manager of 11 years and was had his second heart attack at age 38, quickly working towards his 3rd and perhaps his last. Not to mention we never saw him as he was always…

How do you handle something like dyslexia?

Posted on October 21, 2009 at 4:57pm 7 Comments

My daughter is 8, she has been ready and very interested in learning to read since age 4. I suspect dyslexia though as her fathers brother and sister are both extremly dyslexic and my sister is even math dyslexic so it runs in the family. She loves trying to learn to read but gets frustrated quickly and is very difficult for her. When she writes it is perfect.........if you hold it up in a mirror. I have gone through checklists for dyslexia and it looks very promising that she may be struggling… Continue

I'm also a fiction writer and am shopping a completed novel, so far with no success, but that's the nature of the business.... Are you anywhere near Asheville?
