Profile Information

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
It means to live and learn simultaneously rather than attempt to compartmentalize knowledge and practice as academia is prone to do. The exercise of free will is of fundamental importance to me, and I believe, as Bakunin did, that the only limits that can be imposed on our freedom are those of our own human nature, our innate morality so to speak. It is an extension of that philosophy into daily life that translates into unschooling for me.
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
I myself have been schooled my entire life although I never really believed in the system to start with. I don't study at all, and am a very bad student. I follow my interests in anthropology and read widely on a variety of subjects. Video games are also an intense passion of mine and to that end, I spend a great deal of time designing programming video games in my spare time with free game engines such as Unreal and physics engines like Havok.
first names of children
I don't have any kids and am not married.
a little about me
I've always been a deep thinker and my skepticism has led to me getting into trouble in school for a variety of reasons from doing badly in exams to questioning the authority of teachers. As a libertarian socialist, I believe that in a democratic and civilized society, the burden of proof lay on authority to prove its legitimacy. When authority cannot justify its existence, it should be dismantled, and for the most part, they can't and should be dismantled if we wish to have a truly participatory democracy. Unschooling, with its anarchist principles is thus a core part of my character and beliefs and it defines me in spite of my own schooling that was mostly forced upon me by parents and of course the state.
