what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
Kids learn best when they are choosing it for themselves. If we expected all learning to come as naturally as learning to walk and talk, providing only our supportive presence, and good resources, we'd be on the right path.
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
I haven't. I work full-time, so my son goes to a 'freeschool'. I've been interested for decades, though, and subscribed for many years to Growing Without Schooling.
names and ages of children
My son is 6 1/2.
a little about me
I teach math at a community college. (Teaching is such a balancing act, when I know that the best learning is more self-directed. But I love math, and I love sharing that with others.)

I had a blast last summer at the first Math Circle Teacher Training Institute (see themathcircle.org), and have started a monthly math salon at my home in Richmond, CA.

Anthology - Learning Math Outside the Classroom (And In)

Well, I'm not sure I'm ready to post this all over, but I thought it was time to stick my toe in the water, and this seemed like a good place to start. I am editing an anthology, and I'm putting out a call for submissions. So here it is...

• Do you homeschool, and have exciting ideas about how kids learn math? (I’d like to include perspectives from both unschoolers and others.)
• Do you run a math center, math circle, or other math program which people attend by choice, and at which something o… Continue

What is Radical Unschooling?

Yesterday I read a profile here in which someone said (if I remember correctly) they had gone from homeschooling to unschooling to RU (radical unschooling). I don't remember whose profile it was. I'm curious how folks define radical unschooling.

Hi Sue,
Thank you for asking... the peace treaty is a process that came into my life when I was struggling with old beliefs I couldn't seem to shake. I was inspired and created my first peace treaty and found it freed me. I blogged about it and and some readers tried it, and they told me the same results.

I have finally finished creating a workbook to share this work with others so they can create a peace treaty on their own.

I am hosting a free teleclass to share it with others. However, within 2 days, my first class was full, now I am creating a list for my second class. You can register on my website here:

I hope to see you there!
smiles and joy,
Rain
