Profile Information

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
Following Tolinka's and Obi's lead directed us to RU. We knew from our own lives that learning is the outcome of real experience, but wow, there's nothing like observing young kids to see it in action. We want to nurture each family member's innate curiosity and individuality. We work on trusting and supporting each other.
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
T & O are 3 yrs, not technically school-aged, so it's more of a lifestyle. Seems like much of that will continue even as they get older.
first names of children
Tolinka & Obi, both 3 yrs
a little about me
I'm an artist and so is my husband, Ray. I work in response to my relationship with place. For a long time I preferred unbuilt areas. Working alongside our two small kids has been ideal for focusing closer to home and acknowledging the urban nature of our home in Miami.

Ray can build or fix just about anything. Though he's not much into online networking we talk a lot.

We both agree that our experience of school was problematic at best. My work experience (both good and bad) as a university professor contributes to our desire to learn by living.
